Mary Elizabeth (Hunter) Spetzman of Lindstrom, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on November 25, 2023.
She was born on January 28, 1956 in Monticello, Minnesota and grew up in Ironton, Minnesota. Mary proudly spoke about growing up in the community near the Cayuna Iron Range. She graduated from Crosby Ironton High School in 1974. Mary continued her education at multiple colleges and universities with focus on religious and wildlife studies. Mary married the love of her life Jerome (Jerry) Spetzman on October 14, 1995. They raised their family in a beautiful home on Kroon Lake near Lindstrom, Minnesota.
Mary enjoyed reading, playing the piano, gardening, bird watching, boating, her morning cup of coffee and a good steak. She was well-read and knowledgeable about many things and was always willing to try new adventures. Mary and Jerry traveled throughout the United States along with visits to Mexico and Canada. They had the opportunity to visit Peru and Russia on short term mission trips. They enjoyed many summers at Wilderness of Minnesota family campground near Mille Lacs Lake. Mary escaped the past three Minnesota winters by spending time in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Mary had a deep commitment to family. She and Jerry were blessed with children: Krystal Spetzman, Makayla (Nicholas) Otis, and Abigail Spetzman, grandchildren: Eithan, Sullivan, Cheyenne, William and Alanna. In addition to children and grandchildren, Mary is survived by husband Jerry Spetzman, and sisters Barbara Mahoney and Sandra (Dan) Drevlow.
Mary was preceded in death by parents Earl and Pearl Hunter and granddaughter Dana.
Mary held fast to her faith in Jesus Christ who was her guide during good times and bad. In the end, Mary’s body could not withstand the ravages of the very rare Leiomyosarcoma cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Lakes Free Church, 29620 Olinda Trail, Lindstrom, Minnesota. Visitation starts at 10 am, service at 11 officiated by pastor Ken Marquardt, with lunch to follow.

A private interment will take place in the spring at Fairview Cemetery, Lindstrom, Minnesota.
