Chisago Lakes hangs up 24 goals in two victories last week

Freshman Lexi Smothers notched her first career hat trick and had one assist as the Wildcats crushed the Visitation Blazers 12-0 Tuesday, December 5 at Chisago Lakes Arena. The Wildcats scored five goals in each of the first two periods and outshot the Blazers 49-17 for the game. Goalie Breanna Ritter stopped all 17 shots she faced to earn her second shutout of the season.
Nora Devries and Allison Smothers each scored two goals and added an assist. Brooke Klemz, Allison Johnson, Ella Perreault, Joee Westland, and Camryn Hinsch scored the other goals for the Wildcats. Playmaker Aly Vogelsang had three assists. Kali Hanson and Lauren Schmidt each assisted on two goals, and Naomi Eaton, DeVries, and Perreault picked up one assist each to round out the scoring for the Wildcats.
Chisago Lakes 12, Princeton/Big Lake/Becker 2
The Wildcats scored 12 goals for the second game in a row. Sophomore Allie Smothers picked up the first hat trick of her career and nine different Wildcats scored goals as the Wildcats pounded the Princeton/Big Lake/Becker Tigers 12-2 Thursday, December 7 at Chisago Lakes Arena. Freshman Kylee Puterbaugh scored her first career goal in the win. The Wildcats outshot the Tigers 55-16 for the game, giving them 104 shots over the last two games. Goalie Evi Reedy stopped 14 of the 16 shots she faced to pick up her first win of the season.
Smothers also had an assist to give her four points for the game. Lauren Schmidt had four points, with a goal and three assists. Ella Perreault put two in the back of the net. Scoring one goal each were Aly Vogelsang, Lexi Smothers, Brooke Klemz, Kali Hanson, and Camryn Hinsch. Naomi Eaton, Nora DeVries, and Joee Westland each contributed two assists. Seven players had one assist each as the Wildcats totaled 29 points for the game: Lexi Smothers, Allison Johnson, Hanson, Perreault, Grace Schulte, Olivia Rambosek, and Hinsch.

Arrg! The Wildcats (3-3-0) will host the Crookston Pirates tomorrow night Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Chisago Lakes Arena. Tuesday, December 19 the Breck Mustangs will come to Lindstrom for a 7 p.m. game – the Wildcats’ ninth home game in a row. The Wildcats don’t play at home again for a month and have only three more home games in the regular season after the Breck game.
