Grapplers weather tough early schedule
Big Lake Triangular
The Wildcats dropped to 0-5 in dual meets on the season with two losses at the Big Lake Triangular Thursday, December 7. They fell to Cambridge-Isanti 51-24 and lost to the host team 57-16.
Three individual Wildcats went 2-0 in the triangular. Logan Bender, ranked fourth in Class AA in the state at 285 pounds, took just 29 seconds to pin Christian Prihoda of Cambridge-Isanti. It took Bender a little bit longer to pin Trajan Mussehl of Big Lake, getting the fall at 1:04. Bender is now 4-0 in the young season, and all four of his victories have been by pin.
Michael Amos (160) also won both of his matches by fall, including a pin over Quinton Harcey of Cambridge for the second time in less than a week. He also pinned Jack Christensen of Big Lake at 1:19. And Connor Frederixon (215) pinned Nickolas Heissig of Cambridge-Isanti at 3:07, then went on to win by a 10-0 major decision over Mason Krebs of Big Lake. Franklin Stark (139) rounded out the wins for the Wildcats, pinning Zach Hylton of Cambridge-Isanti at 2:45.
Wrestling schedule
The Wildcats will head up to Pierz, Friday for the eight-team Pierz Tournament, which gets underway at 5 p.m.
