County Board sets wages for 2024
The County Board commissioner pay in 2024 is going up two percent from this year’s, to $34,063. The county pays 95 percent of insurance premiums for a commissioner single policy and 80 percent of a policy for a family.
The commissioners have adopted zero percent raises three times out of the last 15 years or so, and the 2010 salary was $26,871.
For other organizational actions like meeting times, etc. needed for 2024— the Board convenes January 2 as required in statutes.
The per diem pay-rate will stay the same for 2024, which is $65. Commissions, boards and committee members also get the per diem, when serving county supported appointments.
Elected officials and the county administrator had wage adjustments as required by law, made at last week’s Board session:
The County Attorney and County Sheriff are at the same annual salary—$160,357. The Chief Deputy (second in line to sheriff post) gets $145,779 in 2024.
The County Administrator will be paid $163,370.
Non-union employees get a two percent raise, which is consistent with what was awarded to employees represented by a union.
The Association of MN Counties released a list of commissioner compensation (of 80 counties that provided data) and Chisago County neighboring counties such as Anoka is at $88,000 and Washington County is at $75,000.
At the other end, nearby Kanabec County commissioners get $24,338.
