Dave Allan Hultman, 62 years old, of Lindstrom, MN, lived a full, meaningful life. His time was impactful and filled with purpose. He peacefully ended his courageous battle with cancer on December 8, 2023.
Dave, the son of Kenneth and Maxine Hultman, was born on June 9, 1961 in Robbinsdale, MN. The youngest of three boys, he looked up to and admired his older brothers, John and Ron. He spent his early childhood in Coon Rapids, MN. At a young age, the family moved to a home on the shores of Mille Lacs Lake. He soon became an active member of the community. In high school, Dave excelled in wrestling and football and while he enjoyed the athletics of it, he valued the meaningful, lifelong friendships the most. He had an appreciation for music and enjoyed playing the baritone saxophone in the marching band. His hardworking ethic was quickly apparent. He held jobs at the local grocery, hardware stores and gas station while in high school. He became a skilled mechanic and enjoyed spending time working on cars in the good company of friends and family.
Dave graduated from Isle High School in 1979. He went on to Dunwoody College of Technology, graduating in 1981 as a machinist. A brilliant visionary, he began his legacy. He spent 28 years at the University of Minnesota. During his time there, he made significant contributions to many areas, such as Aerospace Engineering and Medical Research. He particularly enjoyed working with the Reach for the Sky program, enhancing children’s skills, knowledge and interests in STEM and IT fields. As an entrepreneur and innovator, Dave developed several businesses and inventions throughout the years.
He started his journey at General Electric in 2013. He had succeeded in his goal to find a career that he thoroughly enjoyed and that he found both meaningful and challenging. Surrounded by a supportive team, he shared many accomplishments with them over the years. In his last days, his amazing team of coworkers all came together to help him complete his final project. This was so very important to him.
Family was everything to Dave. He had a radiant, fun-loving personality that would brighten any room. His heart of gold and unwavering support provided a strong foundation for his family. He loved big and appreciated the little things in life. There was always room for dessert and a good cup of coffee. He was the absolute best father, grandpa, husband and friend. Whenever his deep, melodious voice and hardy laugh were heard, the family knew the fun would begin.
Dave joins his parents Kenneth and Maxine; his brother John; his sister-in-law Carol and his beloved cat Stinky.
Dave’s legacy lives on through his loving wife Lisa, his daughter Kelsey (Johnny) and son Tyler (Britta). and bonus family Amy (Eric), Tom (Kaitlyn), Bob (Mallorie), Nicole (Zoe) and Ari (Rachel); grandchildren Jack, Lucas, Caroline, John, Lily, Jack, Henry, Finnan and Sloane, brother Ron (Maribeth). kitties Isabella and Lucy; nieces and nephews Ann (Bailey), Kristi, Lindsay (Willy), Eric (Bridget) and Niki, and many friends and family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, MN on Saturday, January 6, 2024. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m.
While his loss is felt deeply here on earth, oh how Heaven must be rejoicing!
