Jay Johnson
He is survived by his son, Garrett Johnson, his former wife, Cynthia Montgomery, his brothers Jim Johnson and Jerry Johnson, and his mother, Jacquelyn Johnson.
Taken much too soon, Jay was known for his sharp wit, skill with a wrench, and unrivaled people skills. News of his work ethic and eclectic personality made international headlines when he was in college, as he worked as a mechanic while studying Chaucer, playing sports, and playing bass guitar for his local band. A polymath and a Renaissance man in every sense. Following his English degree and an MBA, he excelled in a career with General Motors, eventually becoming Service Development Manager throughout the midwest, and served as a mentor to many. If he wasn't rebuilding engines or making cribbage boards, he was fishing, enjoying sci-fi, cracking jokes, talking politics and philosophy, or in the kitchen cooking up delicious, complex dishes.
He had a heart of gold, and he will forever be missed.
