Kenneth Purdes
He was born January 18, 1945, and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman. He shared his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors with his family by spending many summers traveling, camping, hiking and fishing the Bighorn Mountains and Grand Tetons from “the shack” near Sheridan, Wyoming, along with many visits to other national parks around the country.
Working for Northwestern Bell he met the love of his life, Ellie, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. After a 30-year career with the phone company, Ken and Ellie “semi” retired, starting a business together as an owner-operator trucking team and traveling the entirety of the US for 16 years, enjoying many sights along the way.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Peter; and is survived by his wife Eleonore, brother Richard, sister Kathy; daughters, Jennifer (Matt), Kerstin (Mark) Harelson, Amy (Jeff) Juntunen; grandchildren Brianna, Elisabeth, Nick, Mike and Tyler.
Ken’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at St. Bridget of Sweden Church located at 13060 Lake Blvd, Lindstrom, MN with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 24 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
