Latest on Lindstrom officeholder vacancies and appointing process
For appointment to Lindstrom Mayor, candidates are:
Judy Chartrand (currently acting mayor), AnnMarie Brink and Rodney Stickney.
For consideration for council:
Rodney Stickney (he applied for both), Mike Klun, Dave Waldoch, Dan Rogers, Cynthia Fischer, Christopher Mueller, Zachary Gadbiou, Don Danielson, Dan Hames, Mike Albers, Greg Krueger and Lee Peterson.
When applicants were asked if they authorized to have their data made public, one interested person withdrew, according to city staff.
If Chartrand is selected by the majority of two council remaining— for the mayoral slo t— she gives up her council seat and then the three members; Chartrand as mayor, Brian Norelius and Linda Merkel as council members, would need to appoint TWO council members, one for an existing vacancy and one for Chartrand’s spot.
Interview questions are being developed, with Chartrand recusing herself from anything having to do with the mayor candidate selection process. The city attorney and interim administrator are overseeing this. There will be interviewing timeslots presented to the applicants, with interviews done in an open session. Council may or may not announce a special meeting to act on appointments. The regular meeting February 16 had nothing on the agenda pertaining to this.
Former Mayor Kevin Stenson stepped down last month, after being re-elected mayor in Nov 2022, and he was joined by council member Laurie Burington. Remaining elected officials opted to do an appointment process.
