What was that? A snowflake?? Sound the alarms! Home show

I have never experienced the pure hype and fear mongering that our latest snow storm produced for the last four or five days.  The weathermen and women are absolutely giddy talking about the 38 inches (yes it’s an exaggeration) that is going to incapacitate our great state.  If you weren’t from here and didn’t know the extent to which we tend to blow stuff out of proportion when it comes to weather, you would swear a class 5 hurricane was about to hit Minnesota.  I’m surprised we haven’t been told to evacuate the state in an orderly fashion down I-35 to Arkansas.  It’s snow. It’s Minnesota, take a breath, we will make it to the other side.

I can’t imagine what the aisles are like at the grocery store, that’s saying there is even product left on the shelves.  It’s snow - you know what snow does? It melts.  As soon as next week it will be melting. There, I’m done.

This weekend, yes after snowmageddon passes, the annual Home & Business Expo will take place.  The expo will be held in the Wildcat Center at the Chisago Lakes high school and will run Saturday and Sunday.

The show is free to the public and this year there are over 80 vendors.  You may have seen our spread in the Search Shopper over the weekend, but if not, we will have plenty of information on hand as you enter the show.  The paper includes a map and list of vendors so you can find who you are looking for.

The show is filled with businesses of all makes and models and these great folks are there to show you how they can help with your home or business needs.

Lots of the service businesses at the show book their summers up pretty fast, so this is a great opportunity for you to schedule whatever project you may have planned.

The entertainment for this year’s show features a painting class demo, the River City Cloggers,  author Allison Wood will read her children’s book “Sprinkles,” landscaping trends by Mickelson Landscape, a blue grass trio will play at 1 p.m., there is a fashion show at 2 p.m. and at 2:45 Wild Rooted will hold a Q&A from a kid perspective.

Sunday on the stage, author Phyllis Root will read from her children’s book “Big Belching Bog.” The cloggers will take the stage at noon, at 1 p.m. the Good Neighbor Ukulele Circle takes the stage.

The show runs Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  See you there.
