It was so sad to see the player from the Buffalo Bills who ended up having cardiac arrest on the field in front of millions of viewers.
We see injuries all the time in the NFL and we regularly see players rise to their feet only to fall back to the ground in pain. But you could tell by the players on the field this was different. Watching it left me with a sense of guilt, or something I can’t put into words. I felt like out of respect to Damar Hamlin, I shouldn’t watch, but the human side of you that cares about his well being kept me tuned in. I had that sick feeling in my stomach, much the same feeling I had the day the bridge collapsed in Minneapolis.
The shred (as I write this it is just a shred) of brightness is Hamlin’s vitals are normal, he just can’t breathe without assistance.
The Celebration of the Lakes is back again this year, the middle of February. There is a raffle taking place where the winner will be drawn at the Celebration.
Available for purchase now until the celebration— is a raffle ticket to win a Ski Doo Renegade 600 snowmobile. Second place in the raffle will win a gift certificate to FXR for $750. Third place is a $500 gift certificate to Bikeman Performance.
Tickets for the raffle are $10 and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce and the Wild River Snowmobile Club. This is the year I am going to win it...(P.S. This is a recording).
Just a reminder that the Chisago Lakes Community Meals are still taking place every Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall. The meal is free with a good-will offering welcomed.
Lastly, we here at the Press are once again taking clothing donations for the homeless. They are in need of jackets, socks and underwear. You can drop them off here at the Press and we will get them to the needy. Thank you.
