Wildcats nipped by Hudson and Coon Rapids
Hudson 76, Chisago Lakes 48
Hudson wasted no time jumping all over Chisago Lakes, scoring 38 points in the first half and limiting a normally high-scoring Wildcat team to just 15 points when the two out-of-state teams clashed on Wednesday, December 28.
Patrick Rowe led the Wildcats with 17 points, but he was the only CL player in double digits as Owen Larsen netted nine in the losing effort.
Coon Rapids 101, Chisago Lakes 84
Scoring wasn’t an issue for the Wildcats in their game against Class AAAA Coon Rapids on Friday, December 30. They scored a season-high 84 points, but the problem was Coon Rapids broke the century mark with a huge second half.
The game was very tight throughout the first half, with the Cardinals leading just 43-42 at halftime. Chisago Lakes matched their output in the second half, but Coon Rapids flew past theirs, scoring 58 points. Junior KhiJohnn Cummings-Coleman, who is also a standout football player for the Cardinals, scored 43 points to go along with seven rebounds and six assists, as CR pulled away late from the Wildcats.
For Chisago Lakes, Larsen led them with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Ian Larsen scored 20 points to go with nine rebounds and five steals, Jack Walker had 13 points, Patrick Rowe had a near triple double at eight points, eight assists and 10 rebounds, and Zander Schmidt had eight points, eight assists, five boards and three steals.
CL was hoping to get their game against Mora in this week as it was postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday because of snow.
They’ll have a back-to-back then at St. Francis on Thursday and then host Pine City on Saturday, January 7 at 7 p.m.
