Mark worked here at the Press for years as an ad salesperson. He was the first person I met when I visited my dad at work. Right from the beginning he was so nice to me and my brother. We spent countless hours fishing from the roof of his boathouse (which was flooded in the 80’s high lake levels). He taught me how to tie a fishing fly that was foolproof for catching sunfish.
Mark worked for the cities of Chisago and Lindstrom as administrator and then eventually Princeton, to finish out his career. He was a dedicated historian whose one attribute that stuck out to me was he loved to share. He would reach out to complete strangers with a historical fact, or photo that would hold meaning for that person. I loved that. He was a frequent contributor to the Old Chisago County Facebook page and somehow produced photos I never even knew existed.
Quite a life Mark made for himself in little old Chisago Lakes... he will be missed for sure.
Well Viking fans, you are welcome. Thanks to me (yes me) the Vikings are in the playoffs. Sundays are usually reserved for parking my rear on the couch eating salty snacks and yelling at my tv. This season however I have been preoccupied with working on our house we purchased a year-plus ago. When I sit and watch the purple, they lose (it’s totally true), when I go and work or putz outdoors, they win. So for the next month or so, if you see me wandering around on the ice, it’s for your football enjoyment.
The 2023 Chisago Lakes Home and Business Expo is set for the end of February. They are still looking for vendors to participate in the two day show at the Chisago Lakes Wildcat Center.
If you would like to join us at the show, please call the Chamber at 651-257-1177 to register for a space.
The Expo is also currently looking for entertainment for the show.
There are some half-hour slots still available for the show. It can be entertainment (dancing, music, juggling etc.) or informational such as seminars and how-to demonstrations. If you, your group, or your business would like to use the stage and perform, please once again call the Chamber at 651-257-1177. I hear VanHalen is booked that day, so maybe you can fill the void?
