Marcella Elaine Peterson, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023. Marcie was born on January 20, 1931 in Taylors Falls, MN to parents Fred and Agnes Sellman. Her family moved around a lot as she was growing up.  She attended schools in Kost, Almelund, Palmdale, Lindstrom and Taylors Falls where she graduated High School from in 1949. She enjoyed family picnics the most in her younger years.  

On November 19, 1949 she married Curtis Peterson.  They lived on a farm in Taylors Falls where she milked cows, worked in the barn, along with raising their three children, Karen, Debra and Douglas.  Then on December 18, 1963 the love of her life died tragically. Marcie sold the farm and in the summer of 1964 her brothers-in-law built her a house in Lindstrom where she raised her three young children by herself and worked at the local Nelson Community Market and Lindstrom Bakery.  She was so proud and dedicated to the bakery and her grandchildren loved to visit her and get doughnuts! She retired in 2006. 

Marcie’s grandchildren describe her as a kind, sweet, loving, strong, independent, hard-working woman! She was also very proud of her Swedish heritage.  She always had a smile on her face no matter how tough things were and she was a great listener who always asked the right questions!  She loved to host gatherings at her house whether it be for Halloween (because she lived in town), Karl Oskar Days (because she was on the parade route) or just a normal Saturday where she could make lunch, have ice tea for everyone and bake the best cookies!  Her grandkids are going to miss coming to visit and seeing her pop her head above the door window to see who was there!

After retirement she filled her days with daily walks with Deb, reading, tending to her flowers, Red Hats, and getting together with family, old classmates, and neighbors.  

In July 2021 she became a resident of Rushseba Memory Care. The staff there loved her smile and enjoyed hearing about all her adventures. 

Marcie is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Agnes Sellman; husband Curtis Peterson; sister Dorthy Ann Tollberg; brother-in-law Latimer Tollberg; grandson Steven Peterson; and son-in-law Brian Froberg. 

Marcie is survived by her children; Karen (Mike) Peterson, Deb Froberg, and Doug Peterson; grandchildren Jon (Candyce) Peterson, Curt (Kristen) Peterson, Tiffany (Eric) Schmitt, Kristi (Brad) Pitlik, Todd (Elaina) Froberg, and Trent (Justina) Froberg; 15 great grandchildren; Gavin Peterson, Kaylee, Kamryn, Kenadee and Keegan Peterson, Kendall, Karly and Nolan Schmitt, Sutton, Ainsley, Miles and Bristol Pitlik, Cooper and Olivia Froberg and Blayne Froberg; step great grandchildren; Aliyah, Davin, Ari and Izzy Holter, Blake Hansen and Richie Keeney; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday July 16, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund.  Visitation one hour prior to the service at church.   Interment at Almelund Cemetery.  Please join the family for a luncheon after the burial.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
