David Michael Stein, age 74, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023, at his home in Lindstrom, MN.

David was born on August 12, 1948, in Minneapolis to parents Samuel and Della (Chelberg) Stein.  He attended school in North Branch and graduated in 1966.  After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Okinawa, Japan as a Sea Bee.  Following discharge from the Navy in 1970, he returned home to North Branch.

Dave’s entire career was spent as a carpenter, first building houses in the North Branch area, then building commercial buildings in several states.  His profession spilled over into his personal life as he always enjoyed woodworking and furniture restoration.  In his later years, he spent most of his free time restoring old outboard motors.  Antique toys, model tractors and steam engines were passions of his, and you could always find Dave watching a NASCAR race on any given Sunday afternoon.

Dave is survived by daughter Kari Bauer of Blaine, MN, son Darrin Stein (Kristin Behrendt) of Arkansaw, WI, brother Larry Stein (Wendy) of Silver Bay, MN, grandchildren Cole Bauer, Katelyn Bauer, and Gretta Stein, and ex-wife and special friend, Jackie Stein and their family, Ryan Deming (Wanda) and Killian Deming all of Range, WI, and nieces and nephews.   

He is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Della Stein, and his first wife, Joan Marie Dresel.

 There will be a private graveside service on June 28, 2023, at 11 am at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in North Branch.
