The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office late Tuesday this week, released the names of three gunshot fatalities, found in a residence on Brunswick Road, Sunday March 5.  The investigation has developed a  “person of interest” believed to be the perpetrator, who is also deceased. This person was not identified.  This death and the scene in Fish Lake Township began to connect after authorities found links working the case basically non-stop, according to a sheriff’s spokesperson.

Chief Deputy Justin Wood said the investigation is ongoing in regards to the person of interest— who was found dead at an address separate from the Brunswick Road site and on the day before, Saturday March 4.  A second medical examiner’s office is involved as well.

The three who were found in the Fish Lake Township home Sunday morning as a result of a check the welfare call,  are identified as: Darrell Mattson, 73, Denise Mattson, 68 and Kirk Patrick Mattson, 47.

The cause of death is  determined to have been multiple gunshots in all three.  Chief Deputy Wood said the weapon was not located in the home.  He added, as the investigation advances, there will be additional information released.

The sheriff’s office and county first responders and legal team have had an unusual few days, responding to  this tragedy and the loss of two area men in a North Branch residence fire,  also over last weekend. (See Law Enforcement page for this story.)
