Lakes Area Police were asked to check into a trailer that was discovered on the property at Family Pathways in Chisago City. The item is blue, described as an “EZ” loader 20 feet in length, it has no serial number or license. If you have information the police could use to find the lawful owner please call 257-0622.

A number of trespass orders were issued for shoplifting incidents in the Lakes Area service territory.

Parking overnight on city streets is still a ticketable offense until April. Numerous citations were issued over the week. Keep vehicles off streets unless you have a special reason and have alerted authorities of the circumstances.

February 28 Lakes Area assisted with establishing a perimeter for deputies bringing in a suspect. The site was on Redwing Avenue, rural Shafer, and activity on site was around 9 p.m.

March 2
A North Branch man had a hearing before Judge Dowdal on felony charges of third degree murder — providing heroin that resulted in the death of a Wyoming man last December. Daniel Gene Hurley, 33, was booked March 2.  He currently gives a Hugo, MN address.  Hurley is accused of distributing, providing or selling heroin that caused a death.  

The victim was found by his mother at a residence on East Viking Boulevard, in December 2022. Authorities said the man died between Dec. 12 and 14.  Hurley was arrested soon afterwards based on Facebook messages belonging to the victim.
