Lindstrom City Council Briefs...
There will be an opportunity for members of the general public, city staff and others to be involved in narrowing down the field of applicants. Details are being worked out, but council agreed those active in the community and property owners in general should be included in the employment process.
The city expects to see the search run for 30 days. Candidates for semi-finalists could be considered by the end of April and depending on any notice requirements— a new administrator may be on board by June/July.
Lindstrom Interim Administrator Missy Glenna is in the position currently; following the departure of the former administrator John Olinger, after about 16 years of city service. The City of Scandia recently announced Olinger is a finalist among several candidates vying for Scandia administrator.
In other business: Lindstrom Council last week granted an extension to single family residence homeowners doing an addition to a house on Irene Avenue. They have until November 2024 to complete their project.
~ The city council will see bids in April and award projects on budgeted road improvements scheduled to be made this summer on Irene, Irene Court and Peninsula
.
~ Council sent a request to the planning commission to develop a three-story maximum ordinance for structures in the Central Business District. Code is five stories currently.
~ Mayor Judy Chartrand said the city economic development group continues to negotiate in closed sessions, on a purchase price for the old O Jay Juice site, (most recently used as a bait shop, Tortilla’s and roller rink.) The city has received a grant of $200,000 and plans have been announced for this to become a housing and retail redevelopment project.
~ Newly sworn in council appointees Greg Krueger and Dave Waldoch agreed to committee assignments with one change— Waldoch will sit on the CLTV committee and Krueger is on parks.
Council also established a work session date of the first Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. With so many new council members, staff is helping to bring everybody up to speed. (However, the first work session was this week, March 22.)
