Daniel Franklin

Daniel Franklin was born on May 19, 1983, to Carrie Kane and Dave Franklin. Daniel grew up in Harris Minnesota and graduated from Rush City High School in 2001. He was a well-loved and well-known friend who would drop everything he was doing to help others. Daniel made friends anywhere he went with his kind soul and welcoming approach. If you were to ask anyone to describe Daniel, one of the first things they would say is he was the “funniest guy around”. Daniel was able to make any situation lighter with his quick wit and contagious laugh. His storytelling skills were like none other. If you were ever feeling down, he would be the first one to give you the biggest warmest hug and tell you to “just breathe” “it doesn’t matter” or “just let it go”.  He was able to give you solid advice whenever you needed it and help talk you through any situation. He was selfless. His presence was sought after with the light he brought into every room. Daniel was a very proud big brother and always made sure his sibling knew that he had their back. He was also an amazing stepdad and uncle to all the children in his life and loved them as his own. He was the best big brother, son, nephew, friend, and partner that anyone could truly ask for.

Daniel had many hobbies that ranged from bow hunting and archery to banshee racing and even going to NASCAR races around the states and watching it on Sundays. Daniel loved his music loud and his cars “bumping”. He collected an abundance of Nike shoes, Harley Davidsonshirts, flat bill hats and designer jeans. As a kid you could find Daniel up-north “on the farm” jumping the hay bales with his cousin or messing around in the barn. He was also a skilled hockey player and enjoyed playing goalie in High School. Occasionally as an adult you could catch him back on the ice, slapping the puck around reminiscing about the simpler times. Daniel also enjoyed life out at the cabin and fishing on Lake Vermillion. He appreciated hanging out with friends and “shooting the shit” whether it was in the garage throwing back a few or around a bonfire. Daniel always made sure he was present with his friends, and he had a lot of them! However, his favorite hobby of all, was taking his motorcycle out for a ride. He would ride when it's negative 30 degrees and when it is blistering hot. It didn’t matter, all he wanted to do was get out on the bike and go for a ride. Daniel was so proud to be a part of the Hells Angels Brotherhood and would constantly talk about the positive impact he was making on the community and the brotherhood he found. Daniel was working as a prospect for the last year and a half. He built most of the things you see today inside the St. Croix Valley Clubhouse. He really left a legacy with the charitable work he did for the club. He was active in every event held and called the club his home. He became a patched-in member on the day of his death, May 1, 2023 to honor his love and dedication to the club. He will continue to be honored and remembered by always having a light on over his picture in the clubhouse.

Daniel was also journeyman carpenter and a member of the local 322 carpenters’ union at the beginning of his career then later switching to the local 68. He enjoyed his job and was very skilled in carpentry work. Daniel worked most of his career for Zintl, Reshetar and 3M Corporation. He was a hard and honest worker rarely missing a day, working through sickness and injuries. His work ethic was unmatched.

Daniel was preceded in death by his brother Andrew Kane; paternal grandparents Dwane and Shirley Franklin, Maternal Grandparents Gary and Patricia Letourneau, paternal uncle Daniel Franklin, step paternal grandparents Robert and Carol Kane, best friend Allen Hagman and those he called his brothers.

Daniel is survived by his mother Carrie (John) Kane of North Branch MN, father David (Brenda) Franklin of Grantsburg WI, Paternal Grandmother Carolyn Franklin of Mora MN, Siblings Joseph Kane of North Branch MN, little sister Stephanie (Jacob) Simons of Andover MN, Adam Gossel of North Branch MN, Jacob Gossel of North Branch MN, Greg (Rachel) Gossel of Ellsworth WI, former wife Jeanne Anderson and stepdaughter Mackenzie Anderson; his girlfriend Melissa Dehkes of Pine City MN and her children Emily, Grace, and Jacob; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and brothers.
