‘Cats sweep Sibley East Invite
Sibley East Lions Invitational
The Wildcat track teams continue to enjoy one of their best seasons in recent history. Both the boys and girls won the Sibley East Lions Invitational on Friday, May 5, in each case beating out second-place Sibley in the eight-team fields.
Boys
The pole vaulters, relay teams and high jumpers led the way for the Wildcat boys. Elias Hallan, Nathaniel Bear, and Trent Guth swept the top three spots in the pole vault. The Wildcat foursome of Simon Strand, Josh Byrne, Blake Schmidt, and Edmond Morris won the four by 100-meter relay. The Wildcats came in second in the other three relays. Blake Siefert won the high jump, with Quinten Grams-Landsberger finishing third and Jacob Grabow coming in fourth. Edmond Morris won the 200-meter dash. Other top finishers for the boys included Simon Strand, second in the 200-meter dash; Benjamin Paulsen, second, 400-meter run; Henry Johnson, second, 800-meter run; Remy Larsen, third, 3200-meter run; and Christian Marchant, second, shot put.
Girls
As you can see by the team scores below, the Wildcat girls dominated quite a few events. They had eight individual winners and two relay winners out of 18 events. They had five events where they swept the top two spots, and one event where they took the top three spots. Kaia Osmundson and Annika Hall finished first and second in both the 800-meter run and 1600-meter run. In the 800, Osmundson beat Hall by just over half a second, and in the 1600 meters, Osmundson won by just under a tenth of a second. Hatatu Killeen and Amelia Anderson came in one-two in the 100-meter hurdles. Leaping first and second in the high jump were Ava Bringgold and Lily Hubbard. In the long jump, Addyson Barrett and Killeen took the top two spots. And Catharine Larson, Eden Appleby and Kendra Warren went one, two, three in the triple jump. The team of Barrett, Appleby, Addison Griffin and Bene Smith won the four by 100-meter relay, and Barrett, Griffin, Alexandra Bartz and Madelyn Luger won the four by 200.
Killeen and Smith finished third and fourth in the 100-meter dash. Smith finished second in the 200-meter dash, followed by Killeen. Other top finishers included Madelyn Anderson, third, 400-meter dash; Lainey Hallan and Lauren Kowarsch, second and third, 3200-meter run; Ava Bringgold, first, 300-meter hurdles; Luger, third, 300-meter hurdles; Olivia Hallstrom, second, shot put; Hallstrom, third, discus; and Smith, Anderson, and Larson, 2-3-4 in the pole vault.
