What good is social media if its used for bullying; Dine & Discover
From time to time I have been accused of being too negative..(guilty as charged) warning warning this is one of those times...
I am not a huge social media person. In fact, my wife has quit Facebook in its entirety and it makes me so jealous. But as it so happens I was on it just the other day and I stumbled across a post from a young girl who happens to work at a local restaurant in the area. She posted a very quick and what I deemed to be thoughtful post telling the public her restaurant was out of something on the menu.
Immediately, folks chimed in and thanked her for letting them know. Then the others came out. You know who I am talking about... the ones who have to spin everything into a negative bashing of anything that moves and in this case it was the restaurant.
All the girl was trying to do was be helpful and it turns into a vulgar disparaging diatribe from a select few who seem to find their way into many local conversations on social media. Why? What good are you serving spewing such negativity? Is your life so bad that you need to bring the rest of us down with you? I don’t get it.. believe me I have tried to understand but I am at a loss.
I remember when Facebook and Myspace came around.. it was billed as the great “Keep in touch with your friends” app that was going to strengthen our relationships.. that ship sailed years ago. I can’t wait to look on Facebook to see me get lambasted for writing this....
I was asked to pass this along to the public. There will not be a Memorial Day ceremony at the Chisago County Veterans Memorial this year. There will still be other services you can take in at local cemeteries just not the Monday afternoon one at Memorial Park.
The folks at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City invite you and your family to the American Swedish Institute Male Chorus spring concert. The concert is a free will offering and is directed by Jeff Wressell. The concert is Friday May 12 at 7pm. See you there.
Next Wednesday you are invited to another free installment of Dine & Discover entitled “Your Life Your Decisions”. Attorney Rob Collins, Funeral Director Colby Voight and Hospice Liaison Nick Blees will all speak. There are three events on Wednesday, Rusheba Senior Living at 9am, Chisago Lakes Library at 12:30pm and the Chisago County Senior Center at 3pm. They ask that you pre-register by calling 651-674-1025 because there is a meal served and they need to know a head count.
