Sheila Odell Ryan of Roseville, Minnesota died peacefully under the care of Allina Hospice and Episcopal Church Home on Wednesday, April 26 at Episcopal Church Home’s Isabella House, in St. Paul with her sister at her side.
She was born August 23, 1944 to Mary Odell and Richard B. Ryan at Fort Snelling, the youngest of three. She graduated from Visitation Convent High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of St. Catherine. As an RN she practiced in the area of diabetes care. Later she earned her Masters Degree in Nursing from Mankato State University and became a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Sheila never married or had children. Her career and her family were everything to her. During Sheila’s time of need her loved ones cared for her in profound ways.
Sheila is survived by her sister Michele Mary (Dr. Gordon R.) Ryan Dodge, and their daughters Cecelia (Mike), Sarah (Randy), Jessica (Tom), and sons Jonathan (Kari), and Nathanael (Erin); and their children and grandchildren, her brother Col. Richard B. (Laura Mary) Ryan, and their sons Richard J. (Se’a), Patrick, Thomas (Danya), daughter in law Emma, and daughter Megan; and their children and grandchildren, loving cousins and neighbors.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 30 in Coventry Chapel at 1840 University Avenue W. with visitation from 3-4 p.m. and again following the service.
