Diane Christine (Dockendorf) Johnson, age 82, of Chisago City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home on Saturday May 20, 2023, surrounded by her family.  

She was preceded in death by her father Alex Dockendorf, her mother Clara Dockendorf, her two brothers Tom and Bob Dockendorf, and her god-daughter Shannon (Dockendorf) Coon.  

Diane was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, grew up in nearby Cold Spring on her family’s farm, and enjoyed a large extended family.  She attended St. Cloud State for two years, and later lived in Minneapolis where she worked in medical records for St. Barnabas Hospital.  During those years, she met her husband, George Johnson.  Together they enjoyed going dancing at The Prom, Withrow Ballroom, and other ballrooms in the Twin Cities; and were married in 1966 at The Church St. Charles Borromeo in Northeast Minneapolis. They moved to Chisago City in 1973 where they raised their four children: Laura [Todd] (Johnson) Freeman, Lynne Johnson, Leah (Johnson) Retamozo, and George III [Leigh] Johnson.  Diane enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, baking, volunteering, attending Zion Lutheran Church, and caring for children.  Diane was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.  

In addition to her husband and children, she leaves behind nine grandchildren: Evan, Johannah, Faith, Isabelle, Sofia, Miguel, Jordan, George IV, and Lucas; and one great-grandchild, Hildie. Her kindness, sense of humor, and pies will be missed by the many people who love her.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City, Minnesota.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
