Luke Urhammer threw a four-hitter and Jack Bjelland drove in the game’s only run with a second inning single as the Wildcats beat the Big Lake Hornets 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday, May 18 at Collins Field at Chisago Lakes High School.
With one out in the bottom of the second, Dominic Torrez walked, went to second when Urhammer reached on an error and scored on Bjelland’s line drive single up the middle to give the Wildcats the only run they would need. But the following hitter lined to Griffin, who turned it into an unassisted double play, leaving a runner on first and two outs. A walk and an error by shortstop Jack Walker loaded the bases. But the next batter grounded out to Walker, ending the threat.
Urhammer allowed a one-out double in the top of the seventh. The next batter flew out, and the final batter struck out swinging to end the game. Urhammer walked just one batter and struck out four in picking up the win.

But a two run double in the bottom of the fifth put the Hornets up 7-4. Berner’s single to left drove in a run in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 7-5. But the Wildcats went 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh, settling for a split in the doubleheader.
