He was preceded in death by his father Vyner Reid; his sister Mary Margaret; sister in law Hannah Reid; and very special friend Doris Lent.
Mike was born on November 7, 1943, to Vyner and Margaret (Joern) Reid in New Ulm, Minnesota. He grew up primarily in St Peter, MN and graduated from St Peter High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Janiece Beckel and was blessed with two children. He moved to the Twin Cities area and later married Beth Mielke. While living in the Cities he had a successful career in sales. After retirement he moved around and finally settled in Lindstrom to enjoy his golden years with Doris.
He enjoyed golf but only on the good days, fishing, creating his many wood projects to share with family and friends and socializing when and wherever he could. He loved to go to his daughters farm and “turn the ground black” during fall harvest, go on fishing trips to Canada and following his grandson, Clayton, to his High School and Collegiate bowling tournaments. To keep himself busy he would make wood projects like cradles, cars/trucks, shelving and much more and give them to whomever wanted them. He was forever putting jigsaw puzzles together and framing them for wall décor or just sitting back and reading a book. If he wasn’t at home he was out for a walk or visiting with friends and sharing Ole and Lena jokes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to donor’s choice.
Arrangements made with Grandstrand Funeral Home of Lindstrom. Condolences can be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com.
