Dale L. Nelson, 81, of Lindstrom, passed away peacefully at Eagle Ridge in Osceola, Wisconsin, on October 21, 2023.

Dale was born on March 13, 1942. His parents were Fred and Ester Nelson of Amador Township. Dale’s mother passed away when he was five years old. At the age of 14, Dale took care of his father after a stroke. He then continued to run the farm until his dad recovered.

Dale met the love of his life, Sandy Anderson of Chisago City and they married in 1961 and raised two children, Tim and Tana, in Lindstrom. Dale worked for a company that built barns but was not a fan of heights, so he then moved on to a construction company. In 1966, he was hired at Gould Battery in St. Paul. Dale worked there for 24 years until the company moved south. 

Dale cared for his wife, Sandy, for 11 years after a diagnosis of Alzheimers.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Sandy, parents Fred and Ester Nelson, half-sister Lorraine “Lolly” Lakeberg and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Dale is survived by son Tim (Renee) Nelson; grandchildren Tyler (Alexis) and Alyssa and great-grandchildren Grayson, Grant and Nora; daughter Tana (Kelly) Karnes and grandchildren Dustin (Sam) and Ryan (Bri) and great-grandchildren Emalyn and Makenna; double-cousin Dean (Sandy) Nelson, Pam (Terry) Williamson, Judy (Brian) Rath, Bev Johnson and Maurine Campbell.

A Celebration of Life is November 22, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the Chisago Lakes Sportsman's Club at 11624 Lake Lane in Chisago City, MN.
