One word - ‘relieved’

I don’t know about you, but I for one am so glad the election is over. As I write this, the polling places are still busy with people casting votes.  No matter what the outcome of the school questions or the results of the school board seat election, or the utility issues in North Branch, it is a relief to have it behind us (or me).

The absolute vile and vulgarity that I witnessed during this election was nothing short of disheartening.  I turned off my social media after reading a few posts on one of the community Facebook pages.  The attacks and misinformation being spewed was just too much.  Am I just getting old? Possibly, but even older people can recognize disgusting behavior when they see it.

This is for the nice people out there....Give to the Max Day is next Thursday, Nov. 16.

At GiveMN.org, there are  more than 35,000 charitable recipients (all valid and many local) listed on the GIVE Minnesota website. These range from large organizations like the University of Minnesota all the way down to local agencies, church groups, basketball and soccer teams.  Entering the word “Chisago” in the Search will bring up many, many local nonprofit organizations.

We here at the Press are starting to work on our 2023 Holiday Gift Guide.  The guide will be filled with great recipes and ideas for the coming holiday season as well as advertisements from local businesses and organizations with specials, gift ideas, and events for you and your family to take in. If you are part of a local business and we have not reached out to you, I apologize, but we would love to have you in the guide this year.  Please give us a call at 651-257-5115 or email us at [email protected] and we will assist your business and get your message out to the public.

This Saturday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day.  One of my favorite days, because it gives us the chance to say thank you to the men and women who have served our great country in the military.  Their service is the foundation of our country which prides itself on freedom.

If you are a Vet, I would highly encourage you to come to a free Veterans meal at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City on Friday (tomorrow).  You (and your family) will be treated to a great meal served by thankful residents.  The meal starts at 4pm and runs till 6 p.m. Please come, we want you there!
