Todd Lee Nelson was born on September 24th, 1959, in Chisago City, Minnesota, and passed away on August 19th, 2023, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, and leaves behind his wife Fonda, children Oesten Nelson, Christyn (Hudson) Keyler, Svea (David) Bach, granddaughters Malena, Mallory, Selah and Emerson, father Lee Nelson, and siblings Tony (Jeanne) Nelson, Julie (Bill) Kunze, and Shad (Maria) Nelson.

Todd graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1978 and from Northwestern University in 1982. He was commissioned as an Officer upon graduating from Northwestern’s Navy ROTC and flew helicopters in active duty until April of 1990, ending his eight years of service as a Naval Lieutenant. He raised his family in Cary, Illinois, but had recently moved back to the Lindstrom area, living in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Todd was a strong advocate for bicycling safety and the expansion of bicycling as a sustainable mode of transportation in his community, and he was continuously learning and teaching bicycling as a CyclingSavvy instructor. Todd was a loving husband, father, son, and brother, passionate about his family, helping his father Lee on the farm, working at Menards, and above all, following the Lord. His grandchildren will be told stories of how their Pops was a goofy, lovable, gentle giant of a man. Our hearts ache for the memories that won't get to be made, but we look forward to reuniting with him and our Savior in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 10:00 – 11:00 with Memorial Service at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 13025 Newell Avenue, Lindstrom, MN 55045

Interment at Fort Snelling, Monday, October 16 at 12:30 PM - assembly area #6 at 7601 34th Ave. S., Minneapolis
