Emery Oscar Kleven "Cleve", age 90, passed away on October 5, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Lindstrom, Minnesota. Emery was born in Starbuck, Minnesota on May 27, 1933 and grew up in Glenwood.  Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the Army and served for two years during the Korean War, receiving a National Defense Service Medal as his rank as a private.

In 1957, Emery was married, and to this union he was blessed with four children. In 1966, he moved the family to Fremont, California where he would start his own business, Kleven Roofing.  He retired in 1998 and returned to Minnesota.

Emery is preceded in death by his parents, Olaf and Sadie (Hansen) Kleven; and brothers, Gordon, Marvin "Harley", Kenwood "Ken" and Orlin Kleven.

He is going to be greatly missed by his loving partner of 16 years, Almeda Alsaker; brother Richard "Dick" Kleven; children, Kim Hanson, Kathleen (Mike) Krznarich, Keith Kleven, and Kevin Kleven; bonus child Colleen (Greg) Kleven Smith; grandchildren Sheree Hanson, Logan Bekker, and Jordan Bekker; great-grandchildren, Bradley Ruppert and Jacob Ruppert; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held 4 PM - 6 PM Tuesday October 24, 2023 at  Grandstrand Funeral Home of Lindstrom. Funeral service will take place the next day at 9:30 AM Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, 1 Tower Avenue, Minneapolis, MN.  Visitation half hour prior on the day of service. Burial to follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery 11:30 AM. with honors.
