There was an on-site open house in Center City last Saturday for presenting a trailhead for the Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail (SIRT) The location is city-owned property near Highway 8 (along bottom of graphic) between Marine Dock & Lift/Bayview Dental.  The color graphic shows how planners envision the site, with a shelter, restrooms, small playsets and parking (to north side).  The SIRT currently runs between Shafer and Taylors Falls, but is unfinished east of Center City.  It connects to Lindstrom, to the west. Trail enthusiasts want to hear from snowmobilers too, who will have space alongside the biking/walking trail. If you want to submit comments send them to [email protected].  Grants and outside funding sources are being sought and easement for  crossing private lands are being negotiated by Chisago County as the responsible governing unit for the SIRT.
