Roger Couillard

Roger B. Couillard, age 82, a resident of Taylors Falls, Minnesota, passed away, peacefully, on September 12, 2023, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Born in St. Paul, to Elzer and Harriet Couillard, Roger lived a full life and dedicated it to being an amazing father and active and impactful member of his community.

He retired early from a successful career in the computer industry that allowed him to spend time on his priorities and loves in life, namely his children (Kevin, Craig, and Cory) and serving the community. Roger always enjoyed involvement in Taylors Falls and Chisago Lakes athletics and, in 2017, was inducted into the Chisago Lakes High School Wall of Fame for his work as a volunteer and sports coach (basketball, baseball, and volleyball). He also worked as a special education teacher for over 20 years at Taylors Falls Elementary School.

Roger was a passionate and avid investor. He said his greatest investment was discussing and sharing his knowledge and skills with his boys to continue his legacy. Revered by family and friends as a masterful storyteller, he will be remembered for his long-winded but impactful stories and learnings. He was and continues to be an inspiration to all those around him.

Roger played competitive volleyball for decades where he made many life-long friends. He was also a regular at Coffee Talk in Taylors Falls, where he and a group of friends, that also spanned decades, discussed important matters in their lives and that of the community. He truly cherished his friendships, and they helped him through his toughest days towards the end of his life.

Roger loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and relaxing at the cabin where he lived his dream. He is survived by his sons, Craig and Cory (Kim), his grandson Sebastian, and granddaughters; Katrina, Erin, Emme, and Sydney, brother Dwayne (Michele), numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Roger was preceded in death by brother Keith, sister Yvonne (Payne), and son Kevin.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment at Kahbakong Cemetery in Taylors Falls, Minnesota.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
