Robert "Rob" Arthur Hawkinson of Shafer, MN, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, in his home on the Hawkinson family farm. He is survived by his son Nils and daughter-in-law Stephanie; daughter Elin "Ellie" and son-in-law Sacha Idell; grandchildren Kylie and Elias Hawkinson; and many other dear friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Marjorie Hawkinson.

Rob earned a degree in architectural landscaping from the University of Minnesota and worked as an organic farmer and electrical estimator. He lived on the family farm his entire 75 years, for many of those years in a beautifully appointed residence he designed and built inside a 100-year-old dairy barn on the Hawkinson property. 

In his retirement, Rob enjoyed restoring vintage cars and tractors, taking care of his beloved pets, and reading the Star Tribune front-to-back every single day. His family loves and misses him — we promise to always eat plenty of dark chocolate in his memory.
