Dale Nordaune

Dale Everett Nordaune passed away August 9, 2024 at his home after a very brief battle with cancer.

Dale was born to Bernice (nee Stangeland) and Elvin Nordaune on December 1, 1942 in Starbuck, MN. The family, including two younger brothers, lived in Starbuck until 1949 when they moved to the Walter Smith farm in Benson, MN. Dale graduated from Benson High School in 1961 and moved to Minneapolis in 1962. In 1969 he married Jacqueline Dresel of North Branch, MN. Dale and Jackie moved to North Branch in 1970 and were blessed to welcome foster children during their brief marriage until her passing in 1976. In 1978 he married Kathleen Boland of Sioux City, IA, and in 1987 the couple welcomed a daughter, Abby. Dale retired from maintenance at Volunteers of America’s Bar None Ranch in St. Francis, MN after 30 years. He and Kathleen moved off “the farm” and into North Branch proper in 2014 to spend their retirement.

Dale loved spending time outside and staying busy, running a lawn mowing service, tree and snow removal services, and hauling scrap metal. He particularly enjoyed the relationships he built with friends, family, and neighbors while playing cards, visiting over coffee, fishing, golfing, traveling, watching Twins games, and scrapping. He was a deft polka dancer, avid puzzler, and loving father and husband.

Dale is survived by his wife, Kathleen and daughter, Abby; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Wendy Nordaune of Detroit Lakes; sister-in-law Judy Trippel of Maplewood, MN; and nieces Theresa Nordaune and family of Las Vegas, Trisha (Steve) Nordaune Ness of Chandler, AZ, and nephew Derek (Genevieva) and family Nordaune of Sulphur Springs, TX.   Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Elvin Nordaune; first wife, Jacqueline Nordaune; brother, sister-in-law, and nephews James, Sandra, Jason, and Adam Nordaune.

Memorial services will be held on 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church (38460 Lincoln Trail) in North Branch with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with a luncheon immediately after at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Branch. www.grandstrandfh. com.
