Vikings 52, Two Rivers 50
The Vikings won their only match up of the week in a close affair over Two Rivers on Tuesday, November 26.
The Vikings got out to a big lead in the first half and held on for the wild ride down the stretch.
They were paced by senior Ella Kuhlman, who had 24 points and 10 rebounds on the night. That helped the Vikings get out to a 27-18 lead at the break.
Kuhlman was launching shots from beyond the arc, with 17 of her 20 shot attempts coming from the three point line.
Although the Warriors trimmed the lead in the second half, some buckets by Jo Bartkey and Maria Damiani helped NB win 52-50.
The three point line was key in the game, with the Vikings shooting eight-of-28 and Two Rivers shooting just four-of-33. Isabelle Kirchner went four-of-11 for the Warriors while the rest of the team went 0-for-22.
CHISAGO LAKES
Spectrum 54, Wildcats 30
Lack of scoring really bit the Wildcats in their double digit loss to the Spectrum Sting on Tuesday November 26.
Claire Beaver was the ‘Cats leading scorer with just seven points. Mariana Cooksley added six points for CL. The ‘Cats did rebound well, with Kayla Larsen, Makenna Thorsen and RaeAnn Goehring each grabbing six boards.
But, the Sting were up 22-13 at half and the lead grew in the second half as they ran away with the game.
The Vikes will play three more non-conference games before getting into the meat of their schedule. They’ll host Rock Ridge on Friday, December 6 and Sauk Rapids Rice on Tuesday, December 10 before heading to Little Falls for a match up with the Flyers on Thursday, December 12.
Proctor 69, Chisago Lakes 25
Things didn’t get any better for the Wildcats as they took on the unbeaten Proctor Rails on Saturday, November 30 and lost by 44 points.
Annika Hall and Thorsen were the top scorers for CL with six points each and Claire Beaver had four points, but other than those three nobody else had more than one basket.
Proctor’s Chloe Carlson nearly outscored the ‘Cats by herself, with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals.
Chisago Lakes is in the midst of a three game homestand, as they hosted St. Agnes earlier this week before taking on Mahtomedi on Thursday, December 5 at 7 p.m. at home.
After that, the ‘Cats get into some Mississippi 8 Conference play and eight of their next nine games are on the road.
