About 16 citizen positions are opening up at the end of 2024 on Chisago County Boards and Committees. If you have an interest in getting more involved in local government or have expertise in a certain area where you could contribute to the process, consider applying.  Some posts require the applicant to reside in the area with the upcoming vacancy.

Chisago County Board approved advertising for openings on the Extension Committee, Park Board, Planning Commission, Water Plan Policy Team and more.

Double-check any openings against which commissioner district the appointee needs to reside in, The “at large” openings can be filled by any resident.

Also in the near future filings open for the Lake Improvement District Board, which has two expiring positions for 2025.  These seats are filled by an election process where property owners within the LID cast ballots.   The LID Area 5 seat is expiring, currently held by Travis LaMotte.  Area 5 is the west side of the Chisago watershed, encompassing Green Lake north to Mattson Lake and the old Lent Township area that embraces the LID’s west edge.  The other seat coming to a close in 2025 is one of the two at-large positions.
