Paul Jerome Lommen was born January 9, 1943 in Harvey, North Dakota to Ruby and Bud Lommen. He died Monday, November 25, 2024 at his home in Sunrise Township, North Branch, Minnesota. He was held by his wife when he died – peacefully – as he lived.
Paul is survived by his wife, Suzanne, and his sons Christopher and Conrad Lommen, and their families. He is also survived by his sisters – Betty Furutani and Joan Burgraf, and his brothers- John and Mark Lommen. His two brothers, Clarence (Casey) and Gordon Lommen preceded Paul in death.
Paul was a kind and compassionate man. He was a devoted, loving husband, father and friend. He loved to write letters and read good books. Paul worked with books his whole life at Bookmen, Hazelden Publishing, and the Minneapolis Public Library. After he retired from his last job at Chisago Lake High School Maintenance Department, Paul liked to take long walks. When he didn’t work on carpentry projects or play cards with his family, he wrote passionately and prolifically. Most of all, Paul loved the people in his life.
Paul gave to others and didn’t ask for much in return. He was grateful for life. We are all eternally grateful to have been part of his life. A Celebration for Paul’s life will be held in the spring of 2025. Arrangements made with Grandstrand Funeral Home of North Branch, MN. Condolences can be expressed online at www.grandstrand fh.com.
