Three goal flurry leads to big CL win
Chisago Lakes 6, Princeton/Big Lake/Becker 1
Lexi Smothers scored twice in a three-goal Wildcat outburst late in the first period, and the Wildcats went on to beat the Princeton/Big Lake/Becker Tigers 6-1 Thursday, December 5 at Princeton First Bank & Trust Ice Arena.
Namoi Eaton got the Wildcats on the board with a power play goal at 11:06 of the first period, assisted by Joee Westland. Lexi Smothers added an unassisted goal just over two minutes later. At 15:46, she scored again, with assists going to Westland and Lauren Schmidt, and the Wildcats lead 3-0 after one period. The Tigers got one back just over a minute into the second period. Naomi Eaton answered with a goal just over four minutes later for the Wildcats, stretching their lead back to three. Schmidt picked up the lone assist on Eaton’s goal. The Wildcats started to pull away after that, with Brynn Secor scoring just 90 seconds later, assisted by Allie Smothers, to make it 5-1 after two periods. Schmidt added a goal with 14 seconds left in the game, assisted by Eaton and Lexi Smothers, to make the final score 6-1.
Hockey Hullaballoo
Tonight, the Wildcats (3-5-0) will head to the Forest Lake Sports Center for their seventh straight away game, taking on the Forest Lake Rangers at 7 p.m. And on Monday, December 16 the Wildcats will play a rare weekday afternoon game at Ridder Arena, on the campus of the University of Minnesota. They will clash with the Visitation Blazers at 3 p.m.
