Battle of big cats goes in favor of CL
In nature, a tiger would have the upper hand over a wildcat, but on the gymnastics floor last week, the Wildcats of Chisago Lakes clashed with the Tigers of Princeton, and CL’s favorite felines came out on top 130.60-121.375.
Wildcat senior Ella Rhein won two individual events and the all around to highlight the meet for CL.
Rhein had the meet’s only score in excess of nine when she put up a 9.050 on the vault. She also won the floor with a score of 8.825 and the all around with a 33.575, nearly two points clear of the second place.
Addison Melquist won the uneven bars event with a 7.90, and Caty Larson finished second on the balance beam with an 8.4.
Other highlights came from Breanna Kotlowski’s floor exercise, which scored an 8.450, Chelsea Stipe’s vault, which was awarded an 8.850. Kotlowski and Stipe also finished second and third in the all around. Kotlowski scored a 31.875 while Stipe earned a 31.50.
"These early meets are a good meet to find out where we are at, and it provides us a good baseline to build off,” Head Coach Lee Crouse said.
“We're still working on building our skills into routines. We'll be using the holiday break to enhance and improve our difficulty.”
