Kathleen Marie Anderson-Steppa, age 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Maranatha Nursing Home in Brooklyn Center, MN. Born to parents Thomas and Mildred (Burrill) Jackson on May 3, 1951 in St. Paul, MN, Kathy’s love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Kathy married Barg “Andy” Anderson in 1972 and together they had a daughter, Jennifer Anderson Crim spouse Brian Crim. In 1984, Kathy was married to Allen Steppa and had two children - Christopher Steppa spouse Amanda Tupa Steppa and Colleen Steppa spouse Henrique Silva. Kathy was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren - Jaydon Crim spouse Emma, Ethan Crim spouse Emily, Karin Crim, Caitlyn Crim, Axel Weber, Edison and Olivia Steppa - who will always remember her fun and generous spirit and her love for them.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mildred, and her sister Pamela Jackson.
She is survived by Allen, her beloved husband of 40 years, three children, seven grandchildren, brother Michael Jackson (Luann Shivers), sister-in-law Kathy Jackson, four nephews, lifelong best gal pal Mary (Osbourne) Mishou, and many other friends, all of whom will hold her memory close to their hearts.
An insurance agent for 46 years, Kathy was known for her exacting mind and gift with numbers. She lived her life as the picture of a 'cheerful giver’, taking great delight in opportunities to give to faith-based service organizations or the physical needs of her family. She could reconcile any statement to the penny and was not satisfied with anything less. Kathy was also known for her feisty spirit, dressing up in costume, and her love of practical jokes (except sometimes when they were played on her). Growing up in Minnesota, Kathy often went fishing with her family and she enjoyed her final years spending time with Allen at their lake home in Lindstrom. Kathy loved seeing her grandchildren, baking for them her famous cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bread, and angel food cake with fluffy white frosting and telling them many stories. Her embroidered bibs and dishtowels were offered as expressions of care to many, a hobby that kept her hands busy most days. Kathy also never met a thrift store she didn’t like.
A person of sincere faith, Kathy was a faithful attendee of Lakes Free Church in Lindstrom, MN where she worshipped for the past 13 years. Her assurance of God’s presence with her, in her final months of physical struggles and decline was a source of comfort for her family.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place at 11a.m. Monday, January 6, 2025 at Lakes Free Church, Lindstrom, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City, MN. Memorials preferred to International Association for Refugees, PO Box 1405, Wheaton, IL 60187.
