Things just haven’t been going the Wildcats’ way this year on the basketball court. The girls’ hoops squad dropped two more contests, a lopsided Mississippi 8 Conference affair against Monticello, and an in-section matchup against Hermantown.

Monticello 61, Chisago Lakes 21

The Magic had no problem making quick work of Chisago Lakes on Tuesday, January 30 at Monticello.

Monti raced out to a 37-9 lead in the first half, and then it was a steady stream of subs and young players in the second half. Only one player scored more than one basket for the Wildcats, and that was Abby Smith, who scored eight points.

Hermantown 54, Chisago Lakes 44

The Hawks blitzed CL in the first half, and then did enough for it to hold up in the second half, winning by 10.

The section matchup at Chisago Lakes went Hermantown’s way early, with the Hawks outsourcing CL 32-15 in the opening frame. The Wildcats did manage to trim into that lead in the second half by seven, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the big deficit.

Addyson Barrett scored 13 points for CL and added five rebounds. Annika Hall had seven points, Claire Beaver added six and Abby Sufka and RaeAnn Goehring each had five.
