The Wildcats and Vikings met as part of the Princeton Triangular on Wednesday, January 31 and the Vikings prevailed 39-36. Of the 13 weights, two were forfeits, one was a decision and the other ten were pins.
Viking Dominic Taylor pinned Wildcat Landyn McChesney at 1:32 to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead. Wildcat Conner Aspenson (114) followed with a pin of Viking Joseph Graupman at 3:04 to tie the match at 6-6. Viking Jack Bajer (121) won by fall over Wildcats Lucas Yang at 4:26, and the Vikings were back on top 12-6. The Wildcats re-tied it at 12-12 when Sam Bird (127) pinned Viking Mason Henry at 1:31. The back-and-forth continued as Viking Aiden Schwartz pinned Wildcat Franklin Stark at 1:34 before Wildcat Aydin Lemke won by fall over Viking Colin Duvall at 4:00, and the score was tied 18-18.
The Vikings then won four straight matches to take an insurmountable lead. Viking Parker Larson (145) won by forfeit. Viking Evan Pommier beat Wildcat Michael Amos in an 11-7 decision to pick up three points. Viking Emmit Hanson (160) won by fall over Wildcat Diesel Lundeen at 2:50, giving the Vikings a 33-18 lead with four weights left. Viking Parker Deniger (172) won by fall over Wildcat Lucas Grabow at 5:32, and the Vikings led 39-18. The Wildcats earned all 18 possible points from the last three weights: Wildcat Xavier Bradley-Peel made short work of Viking Leonardo Santos with a pin at 1:35; Wildcat Connor Frederixon (215) pinned Viking Karson Gariepy at 3:55; and Logan Bender (285) won by forfeit, but it only cut the Viking lead to 39-36. The Vikings won the dual.
