No ice? No problem!

The Celebration of Lakes featured no lake ice activity due to the mild winter and it couldn’t offer much activity that calls for a snow base— but people did enjoy inside events and the prize raffle was a hit.

The winner of the ATV was Linda Miller.  The $1,000 gift card for Polaris went to Brian Schindler,  the FXR gift certificate for $750 was won by Justin Klein and the $500 Bikeman services card went to Kim Giannin.

The raffle prizes were sponsored by Stacy Hardware & Powersports, Polaris, FXR and Bikeman.

Over at the Wildcat Community Center at the Chisago Lakes Area High School;  the pickleball  tourney attracted players from 13 to 66 years old.  The double elimination event was won by Luke and Randy Wille (photo page 11).

Chisago Lakes Community Education Director Dan McGonigle commented this was the first ever pickleball tournament at the WCC and it was a great way to kickoff  the celebration.  He promises to expect a bigger and better pickleball tourney next year.

The cribbage competition attracted 35 players with proceeds going to the Chisago Lakes Middle School theatre program

Finishing in first place was Rod “Gus” Negus, second place Mark Palmer and Cass Dennison won third.  Winners took home cheese and meat baskets provided by Eichten’s.  Next year watch for the addition of a doubles category.

Community Ed Director McGonigle says the middle school appreciates the support and thanks to all who signed up for cribbage.

Meanwhile, over at the historic Chisago Lake Lutheran Church the “Grumpy Old Men” annual church service was well-attended by congregants wearing their flannel.  The film with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon contained many scenes filmed in the Chisago Lakes area and the church was a key location.

Farm and Thread and In the Moment Boutique on main street in Lindstrom partnered with Winehaven for a fashion show and related fun at the vineyard in Chisago City). Kyle Peterson, vineyard co-owner, said 100 guests had a great time, at the luau themed show.
