Chisago library now access point for naloxone, test strips

The East Central Regional Library Board recently authorized its Chisago Lakes branch to be a naloxone access point (NAP) and has partnered with the non-profit Steve Rummler Hope Network for supplies of the overdose reversal medication.

Minnesota laws allow for anybody to possess and administer this medication in time of need.  If you have family members or other loved ones who consume opioids or may become exposed to toxic fentanyl-laced products, naloxone is something you want to have on hand.  The legislature also  provided for immunity to those who call 9-1-1 to report an overdose in progress.

The Chisago Lakes library is a free distribution site for the Rummler Hope Network kits— plus  fentanyl test strips;  also provided by the Steve Rummler Hope Network. The use of test strips alerts for the presence of fentanyl.

The library kits are intended as public health resources to reduce the numbers of opioid deaths.  No insurance information needed to get the items and the distribution is anonymous.  Library hours are Mon.-Wed.-Friday open at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tues. and Thurs. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Chisago Lakes Library is closed Sundays.
