Donald “Don” Klocker
Donald F. Klocker, of Taylors Falls, MN, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the age of 87.
Don was born on October 17, 1936 to Joseph and Catherine Klocker in Avon Township, Stearns County, MN. He graduated high school in 1955 at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN. He married Dorothy Ann Gillitzer on June 11, 1957 and they had five children; Deb, Dan, Darryl, Dena and Dona.
He worked on the railroad for a short time in St. Paul, MN, and then moved to Hugo, MN. There, he was offered a job as a cabinetmaker and became an accomplished woodworker. Following his time in Hugo, he moved to a lake home in Scandia, MN, where he resided for 24 years. In April 2022, he settled in Taylors Falls, MN near his daughter, Deb. While living there, he became her groundskeeper, which was his passion.
Don was a supportive and selfless person who was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they grew and expanded their families. Don’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and cribbage. He also enjoyed solving puzzles and creating beautiful woodworking gifts that will always be treasured.
Don’s gentle and easy-going nature made him a beloved companion to those around him. He was known for his giant Easter egg hunts and was famous for his birthday phone calls, where he would sing “Happy Birthday” to his family members. Additionally, he had a talent for composing rhyme songs that everyone loved. Don’s infectious laugh and humor will be fondly remembered and missed by those who crossed paths with him.
He is preceded in death by his children, Darryl and Dena.
He is lovingly remembered by his loving wife Dorothy, son Daniel (Brenda), and daughters Deb (Frank) and Dona (Steve). Proud grandfather of Frankie (Lisa), Joe (Carrie), Josh (Aga), Charlie, Benjamin (Rachel), Rachel (Carl), Robyn (Geo) and Jennifer (Cole). Great grandfather of Frankie, Wil, Serie, Lilly, Delilah, Drake, Lucas, Logan, Ethan, Arianna, Aaliyah, Lilly, CJ, Olivia and Antos. He is further lovingly remembered by siblings Agnes and Fran, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A special thank you to all who took care of him at home, including hospice nurses, aides and music therapist.
Funeral Mass to be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Taylor Falls, MN at 11 am on May 11, 2024. Celebration of Life and luncheon to follow. Private interment at a later date.
