Helen Johnson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen "Patty" Johnson on December 29, 2023 following the “long good-bye” of dementia. She was surrounded by the love of her family, and her devoted husband Ronnie was by her side.

Patty was born at home to Delma and Reynold Olson on March 17, 1938. She grew up on their farm on 7th Street and graduated from North Branch High School in 1956. She married Ronald Johnson on August 5, 1956 and they spent the next 67 years together. To Ronnie, she was the “greatest wife that ever lived.”

A steadfast member of Spring Lake Lutheran Church, Patty's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Patty worked for many years at North Branch Elementary School and the St. Croix River Education District. Patty found joy in simple pleasures, particularly in the companionship of her camping groups and the shared laughter with her grandchildren during RV adventures

Family was the cornerstone of Patty's life.  In addition to her husband, Ronnie, she is survived by her five children: Susan Wehrenberg (Steve), Patrick (Mary Jo), David, Elizabeth Higley (Rob), and Timothy (Nicole). However, life's journey carried moments of sorrow, marked by the losses of her son, Scott, and grandson, Ryan.

Patty's legacy extends beyond her immediate family, encompassing her brother R. David Olson, sister Mary Steinbrenner (Earl), 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Her steadfast devotion to family has left an indelible mark on the generations she leaves behind.

A devout child of God, Patty dedicated her life to caring for others. As we bid farewell, we find comfort in the enduring memories of her laughter and the warmth of her embrace. In the quiet moments, Patty's presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of unwavering love will endure, a testament to a life well-lived. May she find eternal rest in the arms of the Almighty.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, at Spring Lake Lutheran Church west of North Branch.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Branch. www.grandstrandfh.com
