Thomas J. Lindberg, age 81, of Chisago City, loving husband and brother, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2023.
Preceded in death by parents, Lester and Vernette; siblings Gail Peterson, Rocky; in-laws Bill and Vernette Naatz; brother-in-law William Naatz.
Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen; siblings Dana (Tillman) Opsal, Jim; sisters-in-law, Jody, Joanne (Jerry) Ostergaard; brothers-in-law, Jim Naatz and Gene (Pati) Naatz; four-legged-friend Toby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tom was born September 8, 1942 to Lester and Vernette Lindberg in St. Croix Falls, WI. He lived his early years in Lindstrom, MN and Shafer, MN. He attended Shafer School until the 4th grade. He then went to live with his godparents, Ernest and Evelyn Strand. Tom resided there until he graduated from Chisago High School in 1960.
He went on to work at Champion Aircraft in Osceola, WI until December 1960. January 16, 1961 he went to serve his country in the U. S. Army. In the Army he became a Flying Crew Chief on an H-37 helicopter. He was honorably discharged on December 31, 1963. He worked various jobs over the years.
Tom married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Naatz, in December 1966. Over the years they lived in Chisago, Stacy, Two Harbors. Tom’s passion was hunting for agates along the North Shore and polishing them.
A celebration of Tom’s life is at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Memorials preferred to Northwoods Humane Society.
