Golden Globes was fun...?
Here comes the cold finally. As I always state, I am old.. my memory isn’t what it used to be, but this is one of the latest that I can remember the ice being open in the winter. I have photos on my phone from this time last year and the drift (yes snow) went from the ground all the way to our garage roof. I shoveled our roof twice last year. What an odd world we live in.
I’m not going to pretend I watch the Golden Globe awards nor have I ever seen a complete show in my life. But we happened to stop on that channel Sunday evening. Have I been missing something or is this normal? I am not talking about the show in its entirety, I am referring to the opening monologue. I don’t know who the host was, other than he is not part of the cast of The Office (sadly, that’s my tv range), but man o man was it a trainwreck right from the get go. Not sure if the writers or the comedian were to blame, but it literarily was a trainwreck on live television. His jokes bombed, so much so the looks on the stars’ faces in the audience said it all. I couldn’t turn the channel for the first 8 minutes. Why didn’t people tell me this was such a must-see event?
The Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce would like to invite the public to come and meet Sarah (Executive Director), Jana (Office Manager), and Lisa (Marketing Operations).
These are the new faces of the chamber and they have some exciting ideas to share with local businesses. I have met them all and I can vouch that they are all wonderful people who will do nothing but increase the chamber’s presence in our community.
The meet and greet is Friday from 1-4pm at the Chamber building (the building at the veterans’ memorial on Highway 8 at Memorial Park).
We have had a few donations of kids’ floatation jackets so far. We are still in need of many more. If you have any kid sized life jackets laying around that are not being used, please consider bringing them here to the Press. They will go to the Chisago County Let’s Go Fishing chapter, which takes deserving people (including children) out for a day of fishing on the organization’s pontoon. You may have seen the pontoon in one of the local summer parades. These folks that volunteer are amazing and the care they take with the fishermen-guests is inspiring. You can drop off the jackets here at the Press or if you can’t make it in, give us a jingle at 651-257-5115.
On page one we have a photo of the Lions and Andy Brink. These folks raised over $22,000 for the Salvation Army at the donation kettle at Brink’s alone. What an incredible community we have here of volunteers and givers.
