O.C. (Oliver) Mangold passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on July 1, 2024, at Gunderson St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN.

O.C. and his first wife, Barbara, raised their two boys, Marty and Thoren, in the Chisago Lakes area until Barbara’s passing in 1974.  The family remained in the area until 1979 and then moved to Brook Park, MN just outside of Hinckley.  O.C. started out as a medical technologist at Chisago Lakes Hospital in 1963, until he decided to follow his heart and became an auctioneer in 1972.  During his time in the Chisago Lakes area, O.C. was active in the local Jaycees and Lions Club.  He also raised registered shorthorn cattle and showed them at numerous county fairs and the Minnesota State Fair.

He remarried in 1981 to Joani Modjeski and adopted her son Jamee.  They made their home in Brook Park, MN for 18 years.  During that time, they owned the Rush City Livestock Auction Market for several years.  They moved to Wickenburg, AZ in 1999 and lived there for over 20 years before moving back to Minnesota in 2021.  

He is a member of the Minnesota Auctioneers Hall of Fame and was a past board member of the National Auctioneers Association.  O.C. concluded his auction career in 2019.    

He is survived by his wife Joani of Wabasha; three sons: Marty Mangold of Medicine Lake, MN; Thoren (Naomi) Mangold of Zumbro Falls, MN; and Jamee Mangold (Sara) of Pulaski, WI; four grandchildren: Sonny Marie, Sam, Gavin and Ellie.  He is also survived by his sister Doris Polzine of Brandon, SD, two nieces and a nephew.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 at the St. Felix Church in Wabasha, MN.  Visitation one hour prior to service at the church.
