It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lakisha Smolke, who left us unexpectedly on May 26, 2024, at the age of 46. Born on August 8, 1977, Kisha was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met with her fun-loving nature and passion to live life to its fullest.

Born in Duluth, MN, shelater moved to the Forest Lake area.  Kisha developed a love for nature and animals. She enjoyed gardening, canoeing, camping, fishing, and everything outdoors. Her favorite place to be was on her John Deere. She loved her family, friends, and dogs deeply. She had a unique passion for her work as a mail carrier for 25 years, working the same route for 20.

She is survived by her wife Tanya Smolke (Meyer), son Rhys Hanson (Smolke), brother Josh Kelley (Smolke), and brother-in-law Philip Kelley, who will forever cherish her memory. 

Kisha was preceded in death by her mother  Sharon Fraley (Rufsholm), and father  Joseph Smolke, with whom she is now reunited.

A celebration of Kisha’s life will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Eko Backen in Scandia, MN from 2 to 5pm, where family and friends will gather to remember her warmth and spirit.

Kisha’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made in Lakisha's honor to SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
