Boys swept away by Tornadoes
Chisago Lakes boys lacrosse was used to being a high seed in postseason play and having either a bye into the quarterfinals, or at least a favorable match up early on.
But, with a near .500 record in the regular season, and stuck in a section with schools much bigger than them, the Wildcats drew the eighth seed to open Section 7 play and faced off against the ninth-seeded Anoka Tornadoes. They had beaten Anoka 15-9 earlier in the season, but that didn’t factor into this match up as the Tornadoes got the best of CL 10-9 and ended their season much earlier than they hoped.
All the goals came in bunches for the ‘Cats, as Ben Kerkow scored a hat trick and Cam Triplett, Judah Goehring and Landon Kerkow all had a pair of scores for Chisago Lakes.
The loss ended the Wildcats’ season at a disappointing 6-7, but there is still plenty to come in the future, as four of CL’s top six scorers – including the two leaders, Ben Kerkow (42 goals and 32 assists) and Max Bobrowski (18 goals and 18 assists) – will be back next year to lead what should be a potent attack.
