Trail supporters who showed up for the ribbon cutting —opening the newest segment of Sunrise Prairie Trail and the new off-road bicycle course at Ki-Chi-Saga County Park were delighted to hear the announcement that the county has arrived at a purchase agreement for the remaining parcels left to connect the Swedish Immigrant Trail between Taylors Falls and Center City. We’ll have details when the purchase contract is finalized.
The east-west Swedish Immigrant Trail will connect with north-south Sunrise Prairie somewhere in Wyoming. A section is planned to be built with the Highway 8 improvements. The north Sunrise Prairie trailhead is on land next to Hwy 61 at the outskirts of Harris, where the sheriff satellite office is located.
Below: The three mile non-motorized motocross course at Ki Chi Saga County Park was constructed using American Recovery Program Act aid. The first competitive biking events are expected later this summer, watch for announcements.
